January 5, 2024 — On January 4, 2024, the Wilsonville City Council adopted the Wastewater Treatment Plant Master Plan, a 20-year plan to guide the management of the City’s waste water system. Adopted as an element of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, this Master Plan estimates future system usage and capital investment needed to complete new projects and replace aging equipment over the next two decades.

December 19, 2023 — On December 18, 2023, the City Council adopted new solid waste and recycling rates, to take effect on February 1. The new rates, established with franchise hauler Republic Services, represent the first local increase in residential and commercial waste and recycling collection rates in five years. The average increase of 9.2% for residential customers equates to an additional $2.60 per month for typical 35-gallon service.

December 5, 2023 — On December 4, 2023, the Council executed a guaranteed price amendment with contractor Tapani | Sundt that allocates the final $36.8 million needed to complete construction of a suite of five projects that comprise the Boeckman Road Corridor Improvement Program.
This action, the final scheduled amendment to the Progressive Design-Build Agreement, paves the way for these inter-connected, high-priority Capital Improvement Projects to proceed; they include construction of the “Boeckman Dip Bridge,” bike/pedestrian facilities, the extension of a sanitary sewer line to serve Frog Pond neighborhoods, and intersection improvements at Canyon Creek Rd.

The Oregon Department of Transportation, which hosted an open house last week in Wilsonville to provide an update on the I-5 Boone Bridge Replacement Project, is offering an opportunity for more community members to provide feedback that will inform the project.

November 7, 2023 — On November 6, 2023, the Wilsonville City Council approved a Public Art Program Policy and Guidelines recommended by the Arts, Culture and Heritage Commission (ACHC). The action provides an essential framework for the City’s development of a long-term plan to showcase, grow, manage, and maintain the City’s public art collection.
In support of growing a more vibrant cultural community, the Council approved the ACHC’s Five-Year Action Plan and Annual One-Year Implementation Plan. The Plan summarizes recent work accomplished by the ACHC, provides a longer-range plan, and details objectives for the current fiscal year.

October 30, 2023 — Wilsonville’s award-winning South Metro Area Regional Transit, known locally as SMART, is participating with other Clackamas County transit providers to make trip planning easier.
RideClackamas.org is a new, interactive website launched this summer to make riding the bus — and other modes of public transportation — easier for people who live and work in Clackamas County.

The Wilsonville Public Library is the setting for two very special Murder Mystery Events in October featuring Barbie and Ken’s wedding.
Teens: It’s our 20th Annual Teen Murder Mystery & Costume Contest. Come in costume for spooktacular fun! Prizes for best costumes AND most accurate murder mystery solutions. For students in grades 6–12. Friday, Oct. 27, 6:30–8:30pm.
Adults: You are cordially invited to Barbie and Ken’s wedding. Enjoy light snacks, non-alcoholic refreshments, and a murder mystery to solve. Come in your Barbie wedding finery! Prizes for best costume and most accurate murder mystery solutions. Saturday, Oct. 28, 7–9pm.
No registration is required for these events.

October 18, 2023 — For the 26th consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has recognized the City of Wilsonville Finance Department with both the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
These recognitions from GFOA reflect the commitment of the City Finance staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting and financial reporting standards.
“Earning this recognition year after year demonstrates remarkable consistency, effort and competence,” City Manager Bryan Cosgrove said. “Establishing this long track record of transparency and responsible financial management is critical to the City’s success.”

October 17, 2023 — On October 16, 2023, the Wilsonville City Council authorized an intergovernmental agreement with the West Linn-Wilsonville School District that facilitates cost-effective improvements – including street widening, street trees, sidewalks, street lighting and the construction of new sanitary sewer, water, and stormwater mains – associated with the construction of new primary school on Boeckman Road. The School District is contributing $1.2 million toward infrastructure improvements, which are to be constructed, inspected and accepted by the City prior to the school’s opening.

Our Artist of the Month is local quilter Martha H. Aaron. During the month of October, Martha's quilts will be on display in our art gallery, and available for sale. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Wilsonville Friends of the Library and the Wilsonville Public Library Foundation.
Here is Martha in her own words:
I started quilting 45 years ago, an enduring passion that has changed and evolved over the decades.
Originally my quilts were gifts to friends and family. Some were wall art in my office at various jobs and became gifts to coworkers when I moved to a new job or office.
Since retiring I have found new purpose in life making quilts to benefit the Wilsonville Friends of the Library and most recently also to donate to Cares Northwest for foster children and children in need of a quilted hug.

October 6, 2023 — In order to quickly and aggressively mitigate the confirmed presence of the invasive Mediterranean Oak Borer (MOB) beetle in a number of Wilsonville trees, Mayor Julie Fitzgerald has declared a Local State of Emergency.
This action provides the City latitude to coordinate an expedient and more effective response by directing funding for emergency use as needed and suspending standard procurement procedures.
“We’re taking significant measures to protect our Oregon white oaks and other trees from further devastation,” Fitzgerald said. “As necessary, we will engage our emergency management and environmental partners to support MOB containment efforts that pose a significant threat to the region’s trees.”

October 4, 2023 — The City of Wilsonville and Republic Services are hosting a Bulky Waste Day collection this Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 am to 1 pm,at Republic Services (10295 SW Ridder Rd.) in Wilsonville.
Bulky Waste Day is held twice each year for Wilsonville residents to dispose of large or unusual items that cannot be picked up curbside. Proof of Wilsonville residence is required.

October 3, 2023 — On October 2, 2023, the Wilsonville City Council authorized the City to pursue a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant from the U.S. Department of Interior that would partially fund the replacement of the playground at lower Memorial Park. If procured, a LWCF grant would fund about half of a $1 million project to upgrade the highly-used playground, which requires frequent maintenance and lacks inclusive amenities.

September 25, 2023 — Explore Wilsonville, the official tourism/destination-marketing program for the City of Wilsonville, has launched a newly-redesigned website at ExploreWilsonville.com.
The refreshed site features a user-friendly layout, compelling pictures of the region, and new curated travel itineraries to engage visitors.
“ExploreWilsonville.com’s vibrant new website is inviting and easy to use,” said Wilsonville Mayor Julie Fitzgerald. “The re-imagined site beautifully showcases Wilsonville and provides a great recreational planning reference for visitors and residents alike.”

September 21, 2023 — On September 18, 2023, the Wilsonville City Council adopted a resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement with Metro that provides nearly $1.4 million in Local Share fund allocations to compensate the City for its recent purchase of a 2.93-acre future park property in Frog Pond West.
