Primary Election: Local Ballot Measures

Three local ballot measures have been adopted by City Council for the consideration of registered voters in the May 21, 2024, primary election:

  • The Wilsonville City Council adopted a resolution at the Jan. 18, 2024, meeting (watch) that asks voters to consider whether Urban Renewal should be used by the City as a funding mechanism to implement many of the high-priority infrastructure improvements outlined in the 2019 Wilsonville Town Center Plan. This will appear on the ballot as Measure 3-605.  Learn more about how Urban Renewal works, and see a list of high-priority projects awaiting funding at WilsonvilleTownCenter.com
  • The Wilsonville City Council adopted two resolutions at the Feb. 22, 2024, meeting (watch); each asks voters to consider modifying language that defines how term limits (passed by voters in 2020)  are applied. In referring these questions to voters, the Council seeks to strike a balance that honors the will of the voters without unduly restricting Wilsonville’s political capital.
    • Should the Charter be amended to allow a two-term City Councilor the opportunity to serve two consecutive terms as Mayor? This will appear on the ballot as Measure 3-609
    • Should the Charter be amended to exempt days of an appointment to Council from calculation when less than 365.25 days? This will appear on the ballot as Measure 3-608

The outcome of the term limits ballot measures will determine the eligibility of Mayor Julie Fitzgerald to seek re-election in November. Should either measure pass, Fitzgerald would remain eligible to seek a new four-year term; should both measures fail, Fitzgerald would not meet eligibility requirements to seek re-election.

A more detailed summary of these local ballot measures and their potential impacts is to be included in the voters' pamphlets that are  distributed to registered voters in advance of mail-in balloting.  Interested parties can also access staff reports and other relevant information included in meeting agenda packets distributed in advance of public meetings.

General Election: Mayor & City Councilors

  • On Nov. 5, 2024, Wilsonville voters are to elect one individual to serve as Mayor and two individuals to serve as City Councilors. The current terms of Julie Fitzgerald, Kristin Akervall and Joann Linville expire on Dec. 31, 2024. Prospective candidates may contact the City Recorder to learn more about requirements and deadlines.
