HOUSING OUR FUTURE: COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ON COST BURDEN

Calendar Date:
Wednesday, November 8, 2023 - 6:00pm

The Planning Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month.

The November meeting is an online Community Conversation on Housing Cost Burden. The discussion focuses on the challenges of finding and accessing affordable rental housing in Wilsonville.

  • More than half of renters in Wilsonville pay more than they can afford for housing and are considered cost burdened.
  • 27% of renters considered severely cost burdened, spending at least half of their income on rent and associated housing costs, reducing the ability for these households to pay for other expenses or save for larger expenses.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the Housing Our Future project, a study to examine housing needs in Wilsonville and identify policies and actions the City can take to increase access to affordable housing.  The City seeks help in understanding the challenges residents are facing in securing affordable housing, especially affordable rental housing.

This interactive meeting provides a forum for residents to share their challenges, and to provide ideas that can inform the City's work to overcome these challenges.
