New Arts, Culture, and Heritage Commission to Meet on May 18

May 5, 2022 — The second meeting of the City of Wilsonville’s new Arts, Culture, and Heritage Commission (ACHC) is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, 4:30–6:30 pm, at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 SW Wilsonville Road.

The meeting features an in-depth review of the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Strategy (ACHS) adopted by the City Council in November 2020 after a two-year-long, in-depth community-wide research and study effort. Specifically, cultural community-development consultant Bill Flood and City staff will present on the findings and recommendations of the ACHS in preparation for a discussion on prioritizing work projects of the ACHC. Additionally, the ACHC is scheduled to elect chair and vice-chair positions.

At the first ACHC meeting on April 20, the new commissioners introduced themselves and shared some of their aspirations for a culturally vibrant community, and reviewed the bylaws that guide the Commission’s work.

Wilsonville Mayor Julie Fitzgerald appointed the nine voting members of the ACHC in February 2022. With the City Council’s consent, Mayor Fitzgerald was appointed to be Council liaison to the Commission.

“The City is fortunate to have a great group of volunteers serving on the Commission to help implement the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Strategy,” Parks and Recreation Director Kris Ammerman said. “This is an exciting time to create the kind of culturally vibrant community that we seek in Wilsonville.”
