City Seeks Civic-Minded Community Members to Fill Seats on City Boards and Commissions
September 13, 2023 — The City of Wilsonville is recruiting applicants interested in serving on the City boards and commissions that provide guidance and oversight of City programs.
New terms begin in January 2024 for 24 open seats on eight City boards; existing members eligible for re-appointment may apply. Board members typically attend evening meetings (no more than once a month) and assist in making policy recommendations to the City Council.
“The valuable leadership, insight and oversight that our volunteer board members provide helps us sustain the high quality of life we enjoy in Wilsonville,” Wilsonville Mayor Julie Fitzgerald said.
Positions to be filled include:
- One seat on the Arts, Culture & Heritage Commission
- Two seats on the Budget Committee
- Three seats on the Development Review Board
- Eight seats on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee
- Three seats on the Kitakata Sister City Advisory Board
- Two seats on the Parks & Recreation Board
- Four seats on the Planning Commission
- One seat on the Tourism Promotion Committee
Diversity within the City’s Boards and Commissions is critical to ensure that City policies and programs serve people of every race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion and ability. People of all races, genders, ages and nationalities are encouraged to apply.
Qualified applicants are to be interviewed by Mayor Fitzgerald, who makes appointment recommendations to City Council that must be approved by a majority vote.
The application deadline, for new applicants as well as those existing members seeking re-appointment, is Monday, October 30. Applications are available and may be completed online at ci.wilsonville.or.us/boardsapp.
