Drop-Off Leaves This Saturday; Second Collection Event Added on Dec. 3

November 2, 2022 — In partnership with Republic Services, the City of Wilsonville is hosting its annual Leaf Drop-Off Day on Saturday, Nov. 5, 9 am-2 pm at the City Hall parking lot (29799 SW Town Center Loop E.)

Because fall arrived late, and many leaves have not yet fallen, the City is adding a second collection event on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Wilsonville residents are invited to drop-off leaves only — no other yard debris, please! — City Public Works staff will be on hand to assist residents with the disposal of leaves into large commercial dumpsters provided by Republic Services.

No fee is charged for dropping-off leaves. The City suggests that participants consider a cash or check donation for Wilsonville Community Sharing, operator of the community food bank and social-services referral agency.

Participants who are bagging their leaves for disposal are encouraged to use large, recyclable paper bags (available from local hardware stores) rather than non-recyclable plastic bags.

Responsibly collecting and disposing leaves supports a healthier, more livable community. It improves roadway safety for drivers and cyclists, prevents flooding, and keeps the aquatic habitat healthy.

Homeowners should avoid raking or blowing fall leaves, grass clippings or any other yard debris onto streets. Leaves cannot be removed effectively by street sweepers, and their accumulation may clog storm drains or endanger motorists and bike riders.

The annual leaf-collection event is a component of Republic Services’ franchise agreement for solid-waste collection and disposal services with the City of Wilsonville. The just-added Dec. 3 event is a one-time event provided by the City’s Public Works department.
