Bulky Waste Day Returns on Oct. 23 with ‘Contactless’ Protocols

Pile of Bulky waste items at transfer station

September 20, 2021 — The City’s popular Bulky Waste Day returns on Saturday, Oct. 23, 9 am-1 pm, at Republic Services (10295 SW Ridder Rd.) in Wilsonville. The event is provided in partnership with Republic Services, the City’s franchised recycling and waste hauler.

Bulky Waste Day provides an opportunity for Wilsonville residents to dispose of large or unusual items that cannot be picked up curbside. Proof of Wilsonville residence is required.

In lieu of payment, participants are encouraged to donate new, wrapped toiletry items – including soap, shampoo, laundry soap, deodorant, paper towels, etc. – to help Wilsonville Community Sharing’s Food Bank provide critical assistance to local families in need.

‘Contactless’ guidelines are in place for this event; please do not arrive with materials that cannot removed from your vehicle without assistance. Thanks for your adherence, patience and understanding with these safety modifications, which may result in longer lines.

Donated toiletry items: these are to be dropped off before vehicles enter scales/disposal bays. Occupant must exit vehicle (wearing mask) to drop donations as instructed on site.
Bulky waste: Vehicles will be weighed and guided to disposal bays. Occupants must unload all bulky waste (wearing masks), and leave it near the vehicle as instructed on site.

For the benefit of Republic Services and City employees, and to protect your own health, please help us minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission on Bulky Waste Day:

Thoroughly wash your hands before loading items into your vehicle.
Wear face coverings at the transfer station.

Bulky Waste Day accepts many items otherwise hard to dispose of, including dishwashers, televisions, refrigerators, computers, monitors, stoves, dryers, water heaters, couches, mattresses, scrap metal, tables and chairs, and clean, untreated wood.

The program does not accept construction debris of any type, propane bottles or canisters, paint, batteries, solvents, thinners, household garbage or car tires.

Typically, the City hosts Bulky Waste Day twice annually, every spring and fall. This year’s scheduled May event was canceled because of COVID-19.
