Council at Ground Breaking EventCity Councilors works diligently to make Wilsonville a comfortable and safe community to live in. This past year, the Council reached out to citizens, promoted economic growth, and emphasized the city’s desire to protect and preserve the environment and community. During these challenging economic times, City Councilors made it a priority to give assistance to families in any way possible and intensified efforts to bring more business and jobs to the community. 

Following are the City Council Goals adopted in 2009 and highlights of progress that has been made toward achieving and, at times, exceeding these goals.

Council Goal 1 - Enhance Livability and Safety in Wilsonville

  • Community Services Opportunity Grant Program
    • $25,000 to aid funding of projects and services that promote education, diversity, arts, or community involvement
      • Grants totaling $14,000 have been awarded to eight local organizations
  • I-5/Wilsonville Road Interchange Area Master Plan (IAMP)
    • New I-5/Wilsonville Road interchange will improve both livability and safety for those who drive and bike Wilsonville Road.
  • Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Approval
  • Wilsonville Police Department
    • Enacted Anti-Graffiti Ordinance to quickly and effectively remove graffiti from publicly-viewed sites
    • Reported incidents of crime down 20% year-over-year
  • Memorial Park Improvements
    • Ball field drainage improvements reduced game cancelations

Council Goal 2 - Engage the Community in Smart Growth and Sustainability Concepts

  • Planning Commission - Committee for Citizen Involvement
  • Educational Workshops for the Greater Community
    • Home Energy Efficiency Workshop
    • Smart Growth Forum
    • Keeping it Local Fair
    • The Livability Project Workshop
  • Paperless Utility Billing and Payment Options


Council Goal 3 - Provide Support to Individuals and Families in Need Due to the Current Challenging Economic Times

  • Creekside Woods Senior & Affordable Housing
  • Utility Relief Program Revisions
  • Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Policy Change
  • First-time Homebuyer's Workshops 


Council Goal 4 - Stimulate Business and Job Growth in the Community

  • Expanding Businesses and New Jobs
    • Coca-Cola expansion: +300 new jobs
    • Rockwell Collins expansion: +150 new jobs
    • Coherent Lasers expansion: +40 new jobs
  • New Developments 
    • Fred Meyer's Old Town Square
    • I-5 Corporate Park
    • Wilsonville Audi
    • Just Store It
    • Wilsonville Road Business Park
    • Goodwill Store
