City employee helps Haiti earthquake victims
Mark Gibson to spend up to 6 months in Haiti

Mark GibsonMark Gibson, Public Works Analyst and member of the Oregon Air National Guard deployed to Haiti Jan. 31 to assist with the earthquake recovery efforts.

Second Lt. Gibson, a recent graduate of Officer Candidate School, OCS is with the 123rd Weather Combat Operations Group. He is one of four from the unit spending 179 days in Haiti. Their mission is to provide minute to minute weather updates to assist commanders on the ground with aviation assets.

Gibson is the city’s Backflow Program Manager. His duties consist of notifying residents by a series of letters about having their backflow devices tested by a certified tester.

The City administers a Backflow Prevention Program to ensure that backflow prevention assemblies are installed where necessary and tested upon installation and annually thereafter by an Oregon Health Division certified tester. This program is required by Oregon law and City of Wilsonville code to ensure drinking water quality.
