The City of Wilsonville has a busy summer road construction schedule that includes the following projects:
• Interstate 5 / Wilsonville Road Interchange Project
Kerr Contractors is planning to complete road construction by July 31 and provide eight lanes of travel through the I-5 underpass area. The artistic elements, produced by local student artists, is expected to be finished by the end of July and are being installed by a different company under a separate contract. Sidewalk work and landscaping are scheduled for completion by November 1.
• 95th Avenue / Boones Ferry Road Intersection Improvements
Kerr Contractors has started this work in February and expects to finish by September 15. Lane closures are only allowed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. to ensure minimal disruption to traffic, businesses, and residents. The project adds a left-turn lane from Boones Ferry Road to 95th Avenue, for a total of two left-turn lanes, and two right-turn lanes from 95th Avenue to Boones Ferry Road. Commerce Circle North is being converted into right-in/right-out turning movements only, while continuing to accommodate two-way traffic.
• 2012 Street Maintenance
The City’s annual street maintenance contract was awarded to Brix Paving and they anticipate starting work in June and completing the work in September. The majority of work is planned for residential streets in Charbonneau and Villebois and involves single day closures of different roads. The City plans to provide notification to affected residents prior to the work occurring. The one major road project being worked on this summer is Grahams Ferry Road immediately north of Tooze Road. The contractor is planning on grinding out the old roadway and reinstalling new asphalt. The City is sending out additional information when the contractor determines a work schedule. In addition, work is expected to occur on the west shoulder of Boones Ferry Road north of Wilsonville Road and south of Barber Street.
• Boeckman Road Bike / Ped Improvements
Construction is scheduled to begin in early July on the south side of Boeckman Road between Canyon Creek Road and the Arbor Crossing subdivision. The project is adding sidewalk and widening the street through this area. Construction is expected to be completed by Aug. 31. Work involves periods of one-way flagged traffic and road closure will occur only during night time hours while a storm line is installed across the roadway. The City is planning to provide further information once the contractor has a firm work schedule.
• Oregon Institute of Technology Mid-Block Pedestrian Crossing
In July or August the city is administering the installation of a mid-block pedestrian crossing between the new Oregon Institute of Technology campus and Pioneer Pacific College. This work involves some flagging in the area. Plans are still being drafted and no contractor has been hired.
• Willamette Landing
A private developer plans to start construction of the Willamette Landing subdivision this summer. This project is located near Memorial Park and the Day Dream Ranch subdivision. Although this work is not expect to cause street closures, construction traffic needs to access the site via the local streets in the area.
